I saw this guy in concert yesterday night at Rutgers University. Also saw his documentary 1040. It was the most awesome documentary I've ever seen. Really powerful, check it out at 1040movie.com.

Hey, definitely tell me what you think of it. I'd love any feedback. I have to admit, acting sure is fun! Notice I rarely get to act in my movies because directorial duties are so overwhelming already. But when making something short and fun, hey, count me in!

The file above is a Word document that the Ultrakids team and I created to help write the script. It made it easy so when two characters interacted, we immediately knew what the responses would be.
This document was key when creating the Ultrakids and their dynamic personalities. Some of you know that I've been working on a new book project. During the process (which is still continuing), I didn't create a file like this, not even a bio for the main characters. Because of that, the characters bounced back and forth, ever changing daily, because there was no solid personality of themselves set in stone (or in a Word document). Lesson learned: know who your characters are before you write them.

Here's a scene that we didn't have time to film in the first Ultrakids...I think. I'm not even sure what these files are that I'm uploading, just judging them by title name. So if I'm wrong, please correct me.

In my insanely ambitious mode while making Ultrakids 2, I also wanted to make a car game to go with the movie. Why? Ego. Of course that failed. So here's a picture of how the Porkmiester car looked like. It tries to crash into your Ultra-mobile, which shoots lasers in the front, carrots from the back, sonic stuff from the sides, and in general, plain dumb.
Some of you are saying, "Wow, an Ultrakids game sounds fun. Why don't you make one, Josh?" My answer is "Give me money and I will." Just kidding. It does sound fun. I really want to make an Ultrakids RPG (role-playing game for the uninformed) to put on this site.

This is a collection of shots showing the production process of Astro Boy, which by the way, is a really good family movie.
The thing is, most behind the scenes videos have the director or whoever talking about the production, but in this video, there is no talking. Just watching the animators work, someone pitching the storyboards...it's a lot of good stuff.

So anyway, if you want to see the actual stuff, check out JellyTelly.com. Maybe in the future I'll be able to pitch an Ultrakids show to them...eh, wishful thinking. Better than pitching it to Disney and having the Ultrakids talk about the weather.

This design is pretty close to the actual costume that my mom made. The red sleeve enders (I don't know what to call it) were taken out as well as the red belt. And who wants to wear yellow pants? Love the logo though, it's so cool.
Theses Ultra-suits are not like the Bat-Suit or whatever. They have no super-powers or gadgets or anything. They're just ordinary t-shirts that Over-the-Hill-Good-Guy made for the Ultrakids, canonically. That's something I love about the Ultrakids take on the Superhero genre: the very un-superheroness of it all. The Ultrakids don't even have real powers. They're like superhero wannabes.  But still, they can fight evil and all that good stuff. There's almost an analogy there that you don't need super powers to save the world.
Oh man, that's deep.

For the Sonic-Suit I was thinking kind of like a tye-dye type of shirt. I just couldn't think of a logo...or was too lazy to think of one.

My sister says this looks like Flintstones. I agree. I don't know what the little black shirt in the corner is doing there. Interesting to note that the pants part of the costumes were never made.

I don't know what I was thinking with this one. I must've slipped color-blind for a couple seconds while sketching.

Same tye-dye style as the Sonic-Suit. I don't know what the black scribbles on the sleeves are. Maybe it was a mistake.

I have to make some changes to the beginning of the story, and that requires me to change everything in the middle that is does not...uh, what's the word...match up with what I changed in the beginning. Lots of work. I don't like work. So it's killing me.
