What started out as a chain mail... 05/28/2009
For the second time in my life, I am put on a chain mail that I have nothing to do with. It was some kids from New Jersey complaining to each about the need to get a Jeopardy answer right and to stop insulting his sister, or something like that. I had an approximate guess at how old these kids were; about thirteen years old. And I knew I just couldn't let this go unsupervised. So I responded. Told the kid to go wash his mouth. Cursing is just to make you sound more mature, but actually does the opposite, stuff like that. And as I expected, he responded, cursing at me, telling me 'cursing is to express anger, stupid!' and how he had freedom of speech, blah blah blah. We went a couple more rounds, he cursing at me more, I refuting his arguments. Finally, I replied with this: You're absolutely right. We have the right to freedom of speech. You can say whatever you want as well as I. You have the right to curse in public (which is why it isn't outlawed obviously) and I have the right to tell you its wrong in public. I'm surprised at your lack of maturity and imagination. Are those the only ways to express anger? Someone comes up to me and yells in my face. Initial response: anger. Do I have to scream and curse back? No. Am I still angry? Of course! "Listen, that was extremely disrespectful and you should apologize." Wow. I am a total peacemaker. There are hundreds of other ways to express anger but still control your temper. It makes you look "cough cough" mature. In fact, you are mature if you do just that. By the way, what you said below was extremely disrespectful and you should apologize. To be continued... CommentsThe Veg Sat, 24 Oct 2009 4:55:04 pm Yeah! You showed him! Leave a Reply |
