The Official Ultrakids Website

Sorry I haven't been posting in a while. There was the bug-like thing in my Weebly editor that prevented me from editing anything. It wasn't really a bug...in fact, I'm not sure at all what it was (if it was even a thing), but I kinda maneuvered around it and here I am.

Well, for the past week and a half, I've been working at my church's summer program.  I came to realize a while back that most VBS programs that some churches employ are primarily aimed at its own church members.

This is different.

About 4% of the kids that are registered in the program attend the service on Sundays. For some kids, it's their first time ever being in a church, or hearing about God. In my opinion, it's one of the greatest way to minister to the unsaved children in our area.

So I've been teaching the kids, trying to imitate the love of Christ to them. Which is hard, considering the fact that I'm not Christ.

Anyway, I'm sitting here in front of my computer blogging, trying to think of ways to improve tomorrow's schedule, and also writing a novel. I really would not like to make a movie right now.

One of my favorite parts of the summer program/VBS is playing with the kids. If you're related to me as a younger cousin, you know how they feel. I thought my legs were going to melt from all the backy-rides I gave them (by the way, 'backy-ride' is the proper Jackson term for a position in which a person is sitting on top of a preferably bigger person's back. The phrase 'piggy-back ride' is somewhat demeaning). I also have a lot of fun doing storytime with them. C'mon, being a movie director, I kinda dramatize everything. Or specifically look for books that are dramatic. The kids were practically screaming when the squire killed the dragon.

Now. 'ahem'
It was 5:30 pm. The program is over so most of the kids have left. I am playing legos with two of my favorite students; sisters, to be exact. You're supposed to build with legos, right? No, according to these two sisters, you were supposed to find the most dangerous-looking piece there is and constantly stab the teacher with it. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Once in a while it would hurt but it's mostly tickling. Newsflash: I am ticklish.

After about 15 minutes of doing this, we took a break. Their grandma came to pick them up. The older sister gave me a good-bye hug and left.

Yep, that's pretty much been it. How often do you get to be in the center of God's will and play/teach kids the whole day? That may not sound too fun to some people, but it certainly does to me.

Now for random comments...

Ah, I'll save that for a more pointless blog.
