The Crimson Sea 05/14/2009
“Who are you?” the elderly woman asked.
“Jara,” the boy answered. “I’ve never seen you here before. How did you learn spell-casting? I’ve never seen a spell-caster do a jump as high as that before.” “Uh…I was taught by my uncle.” “Whose your uncle?” This lady was getting nosy. “You wouldn’t know him,” said Jara. Translation: Stop asking so many questions. The old woman did not get the hint, but then again, things might go bad if she did. “Well that’s why I’m asking.” The woman glared at Jara. “His name’s Terrik. Lives in eastern Sauderia.” “You’re awfully dark to be from Sauderia, Jara,” remarked the woman. Jara winced at the comment. Although he had applied the lotion given to him from Kayla, he was still noticeably darker than the normal Sauderian. “My ancestors were both Japafian and Sauderian.” Best explanation possible, he thought. “Mm. Are you more Japafian or Sauderian?” “Sauderian.” Of course. Why would a Japafian be wandering in Sauderia during the war? The woman gave a sigh of contentment. “Well, since you are part Japafian, maybe you could give King Morthan some ‘ideas,’ if you know what I mean.” “I don’t know what you mean.” “Well think!” she thundered. “You know about Japafia. What are its weaknesses? Any secret tunnels into the city?” Jara’s heart thumped rapidly. “I told you, I’m more Sauderian than Japafian. My ancestors know all that stuff, ask them!” The lady glared at Jara again. Then she softened. “No matter. You can still help me with my spell-casting.” “I really have to go.” Jara turned to leave. “Oh but you have to stay…or else.” Jara froze as the cold feel of steel touched his shoulder. “Uh okay…if you insist.” “I do.” 5 Comments Saber Kid 05/07/2009

We were running east.
Away from our summer camp, which had been total hell so far for the past two weeks. “Mark!” That was Gordon. “I think we’re out of the woods now.” Finally. We had been lost in the woods for a whole hour. We meaning Gordon, Chelsea, Laura, and I. “So where are we now?” asked Chelsea. Our eyes scanned the surroundings. Open fields as far as we could see. And a single mansion on top a single hill. “Wonderful,” muttered Laura. “Who organized this thing anyway?” “I thought this was the right direction...” Gordon said as his voice faded out. His eyes were transfixed on the mansion. “We might as well go back,” I suggested. “This whole escape thing was pretty silly to begin with.” “We might as well go back and face Mrs. Lou,” Laura snapped, and no one wanted to do that. “It’s getting really chilly,” shivered Chelsea. She hugged herself and sat down on the grass. “Gordon? Yo Gordon!” Chelsea stood up and tapped Gordon on the shoulder. He jolted at her touch, then turned and stared into her soul. “The mansion.” Something weird... 04/01/2009
Ahoy Mates! 03/30/2009
“Ahoy mates!” roared Captain Blackbutt. “We should be a-landin’ within twenty-four hours!”
“Yessir mister captain commander chief sir!” responded the crewmen, for that was how Blackbutt liked to be acknowledged. The old captain grinned and hobbled back to his quarters with some difficulty because of his right peg leg. Peter Willis stood waiting inside the room. “Ah, Petey, me most trusted advisor,” the captain said, grinning. “What have yer got for me today?” The slanky man hurried over to the cabinets at the end of the room and brought out a turkey sandwich. He bowed before the captain and placed the sandwich on the table. “H-here’s yer food, cap’n,” said Peter. “Ah, Petey, yer never fail to please me,” the captain said. He took a heavenly breath, and bit into the turkey. Mayonnaise dripped down his beard and was absorbed like a sponge. “So Petey,” said the captain with his mouth full, “we are here today to discuss some of the current issues.” “Issues, sir?” “Yes, issues. Such as, what do you think of all the treasure we’ve got in the basement?” “It’s a lot, s-sir.” “Yes, it’s a lot. And it’s all going to me.” The captain wiped some mayonnaise off his big lips with his hand then sucked his fingers. “What do you think of that, Petey?” “F-fair, sir.” “Really? Wouldn’t ya like at least a bit of the gold down there?” “Y-yes sir.” “Were ya upset when I said I wouldn’t give ya any?” “No, sir.” “You think the other men were upset when I told ‘em that?” “Maybe.” Peter Willis paused, then caught himself. “Sir.” “Well, I am suspicious. Very suspicious, Petey.” Piggy the Parrot cranked his head sideways and stared at Peter Willis. “Brrawwkk!” squawked the parrot. “Picious!” It was a warm, summer day. Josh and Mitch were enjoying a strawberry smoothie on Mitch’s front porch.
“Nothing like a smoothie on a hot day like this, right Mitch?” asked Josh. Mitch didn’t reply. He was looking up at the sky curiously. “What’s the matter, Mitch?” Josh asked. “The sky seems to be getting very dark,” replied Mitch. “What – it’s two o’ clock in the afternoon!” Josh yelled. He shivered. “Why is it so cold all of a sudden?” Before they knew it, snow began falling onto their laps. “Quick! Back into the house!” shouted Mitch. “But what about my smoothie?” complained Josh. He sighed but did what Mitch wanted. Inside the house, Mitch was working furiously in his laboratory. “It seems that in the past fifteen hours, a gigantic amount of volcano dust has been emptied into the air. I’m still trying to figure out how it happened.” Suddenly, Josh heard a loud crash. He looked out the window and saw…a penguin! Josh stared at the penguin. “It seems to be trying to tell us something,” he observed. Playing 'round 03/17/2009
