I'm making a couple tweaks to the movie, stuff I didn't have time to fix before the premiere. It'll be up in a week or so.
Usually in the middle of intense productions I don't have time to update blogs. But my work computer just went in for repairs, so I thought "why not let it fly." Yes, unfortunately, my iMac froze while I was working a visual effect shot for the movie. I tried rebooting it, but discovered it wouldn't go past the loading screen. Bummer.
By the grace of God, I had backed up my entire hard drive literally the night before. If you know me, I can be super lazy at times (character flaw), and I never back up my hard drive. But yesterday night, for some reason I was thinking, "why not let it fly," and decided to back everything up.
Good thing too, because everything fried several hours later.
I had to leave my iMac at the Apple store overnight. Here's another way I see God working through all of this: when I first bought the computer two years ago, I had the option of purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan. My faith in iMacs was pretty strong, so originally I didn't think that I needed it. But my mom convinced me, so I was like "why not let it fly" and bought it as well.
Heck yeah, that came in handy. All the repair services to my computer were completely free. (Actually I had forgotten how much AppleCare costs; a quick google search showed that I saved about $20. Better than nothing).
So I'm hoping to pick up my computer today and continue Ultrakids. I think I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is without a doubt the greatest movie I've made so far. And it's not just me, it was the amazing cast and crew I had around me; I've never had so much support during a production.
I was literally tearing up while editing one of the scenes near the end. That's like the greatest and scariest thing being a filmmaker. Knowing that you have something potentially great in your hands, but aren't sure if your audiences will see it the same way.
